What is my purpose?

Ever felt like you are literally just living life. You get up in the morning, go through your daily routine, get the kids ready for school, drive to work, get home, make food, get in bed and hit the replay button. Nothing that gets you excited or makes you feel alive! Truly alive!

You may be in dire need of a PURPOSE!

I’ve had countless christians asking me what their purpose is and how do you find it. It’s rather simply – Your purpose is to enlarge God’s Kingdom!

Here’s the tricky part. God uses each of us in a unique way. So before you quit your day job and enroll to become a pastor. Here me out. (Unless you really have a desire to be a pastor and have been praying about it, and made a God-guided decision, well then off you go) God wants to use you right where you are!

How? What am I suppose to do next?

My answer to these questions will probably remain the same.

Step 1: Ask God to reveal His plan for your life.

Often we create the plan and only ask for God’s permission, when in fact we should be ask for His plan and completely surrender our lives to him.

We love quoting Jer 29:11 “For I know the plan I have for you”, says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

THAT’S the promise, but for every promise in the bible there’s a Principle and a Program before you can receive the Promise. (3 P’s, see what I did there.)

So lets look at Jer 29:11-14

11 “For I know the plan I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

12 In those days when you pray I will listen.

13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

14 I will be found by you,” says the Lord

The Principle:

God wants you to find Him

The Program:

Firstly – Pray towards God about everything. He will listen. Make Him part of your EVERY decision. Prayer to a christian, is like water to a human. Without water a normal human being will die.

At least 60% of the adult body is made of water and every living cell in the body needs it to keep functioning. Water acts as a lubricant for our joints, regulates our body temperature through sweating and respiration, and helps to flush waste.

The maximum time an individual can go without water seems to be a week — an estimate that would certainly be shorter in difficult conditions, like broiling heat.

If you find yourself in the middle of an attack or turmoil (just like broiling heat) you’ll need even more prayer.

Secondly – Search Him wholeheartedly. Where do we find God? The Bible says in John 1:1 (NLT) In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the word was God (If you don’t know how to read your Bible, John is a great book to start with)

The Word is referring to the BIBLE!

Amazing right? So to search God wholeheartedly. You need to spend time in His word. Reading your Bible is to christians, what food is to a normal human being. Food is crucial. According to research a person won’t survive more that three weeks without food. How long do you think your spiritual life will last without food (spending time in the Word)

That’s the program – Pray daily and read your Bible. As a young girl we had an Afrikaans song “Lees jou bybel, bid elke dag en jy sal groei groei groei” (read your bible pray every day and you will grow, grow, grow)

I never imagined the magnitude of that song! Truth in abundance!

And here’s the best part;

God has this incredible plan for your life. (Please take note – HIS PLAN, not yours) This plan includes; prosperity, hope and a bright future without harm or disaster!

If this was one of those infomercials on TV I would be calling the number on the screen right now! How could you miss out on such an amazing deal? Give God your prayers, time in His Word and you receive a future that is beyond your wildest hopes and dreams! YES!

I’m getting way off track. So step 1 was asking God to reveal his plan.

For Him to reveal His plan you need to first surrender your plan, pray and spend time in His Word. I can promise you God is going to give you the next step. What I can’t promise you is that he’ll give you the whole plan! (God will speak to you through His Word, in dreams, visions or an audible voice – please be on the lookout for my blog about hearing His voice – coming soon)

There is no quick guide to living a purpose driven life. It starts at step 1 if you have not received your first to-do list, well, repeat step 1.

God will never reveal the whole plan, and here’s why.

He wants you close to Him. He wants you to be in prayer constantly. He wants to guide you through every step. Its human nature for us to run with something if we have the whole plan. But God wants to run with you. He wants you to return and ask Him, hey Dad, whats next! It’s a partnership!

Here’s something you can do! Figure out what you are good at, and start praising God in that form. It might be singing, it might be dancing. It might even be maths! My husband is not creative at all, he doesn’t like speaking to the masses but what he is good at are PIPES, yep I said pipes. He is a mechanical engineer and is absolutely phenomenal in what he does. I remember the day he asked our Pastor how his job could enlarge the Kingdom, he knew that he didn’t want to be a pastor or preacher he loved his job, our pastor said this;

“Where you work, do you work with people? “

“Yes” he replied nervously.

“Just be Jesus to them”

He started living out Jesus to the people he worked with. Showing love and affection, praying for their needs and sharing the Gospel.

Four years later and he is in the highest position at that branch with more than 400 people working under his guidance! That is how you can enlarge God’s kingdom and live out your ultimate purpose!

Connect with those around you, share what God has done for you and God will share His plan for your life step by step! (He keeps it interesting, believe me)

In a nutshell

My purpose – To enlarge His Kingdom

The Principle – Find God and share God

The Program – Pray and spend time in the word

The Promise – A prosperous future filled with hope, one that will not harm you.

If this blog stirred something inside you, please share it! Lets get the Word of God out there. Together we are better.
